ARQANA is the leading thoroughbred auction sale house in France and the second leading player in Europe. Though the first thoroughbred horse sales were organised in Deauville as early as 1887, ARQANA was created relatively recently in 2006 as a result of the merger between the Agence Française de Vente du Pur-Sang (then led by Philippe Augier) and Goffs France.
This merger between the two French auction houses was driven by a group of investors including his Highness the Aga Khan, who is also a famous owner breeder of thoroughbreds and Artcurial, the second leading auction house in France whose shareholders include the Dassault Group.
Each year ARQANA graduates make history by winning at the highest level on every continent. The Deauville based sales agency's record boasts numerous Group 1 winners, including recent wins from MORANDI (Critérium de Saint-Cloud, France), LUCAYAN (Poule d'Essai des Poulains, France), DABIRSIM (Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère et Prix Morny, France), IMMORTAL VERSE (Coronation Stakes, Royaume-Uni et Prix Jacques Le Marois, France), MOST IMPROVED (St James's Palace Stakes, Royaume-Uni), MAYBE (Moyglare Stud Stakes, Irlande), SIYOUMA (Sun Chariot Stakes, Royaume-Uni et E.P. Taylor Stakes, Canada), DUNADEN (Caulfield Cup et Melbourne Cup, Australie ; Hong Kong Vase, Hong Kong) ou encore FLOTILLA et ZAGORA (doublé historique dans la Breeders'Cup, Etats-Unis).
