A thrilling Prix de Diane

19 June 2016

The Prix de Diane putted in the spotlight the best three-year-old fillies over the distance of 2,100 meters on June, 19 at Chantilly in front of a crowd of 35,000 spectators. This second stage of the EpiqE Series kept all its promises by delivering a high-level spectacle. Sixteen pretenders to the crown competed at the edge of the stunning castle of Chantilly and finally saw the triumph of the hot favourite La Cressionnière. With this success, the daughter of Le Havre offered a double in the Prix du Jockey Club and Prix de Diane to her trainer Jean-Claude Rouget and to her owners Antonio Caro and Gérard Augustin-Normand only two weeks after Almanzor. The latest double Prix du Jockey Club – Prix de Diane was in 1956 with Marcel Boussac.

Among the runners was also spotted Volta, in the care of Francis-Henri Graffard, also trainer of new Ecurie Triptych syndicate. Facing the judges only two weeks after her win in the Gr.2 Prix de Sandringham, she displayed all her talent to finish excellent third despite an eventful trip.
