Behind of the scenes of breeding and equine health

ARQANA Racing Club invited the Vendome Racing Club's shareholders to open the doors of the Haras du Buff, where Royal Spring was born and raised, in order to discover behind the scenes of the breeding world, and also to visit the highly regarded Livet veterinary clinic in order to understand the various facets of equine health, a key element in a racehorse's career.

 Haras du Buff

The stage for Royal Spring's first steps into the world, the Haras du Buff has been run with great success for the last 25 years by the Le Métayer family.  A multifaceted entity, the stud specialises in breeding, sales preparation, (under the commercial entity Neustrian Associates), breaking in yearlings as well as spelling and convalescence. Other than Royal Spring, the Alencon based establishment is also responsible for Group winners Lucayan, Firyal Pursuit, Maille Pistol, Top Waltz and Moonwalk in Paris.

Located just outside Livarot since 1991, the Clinique du Livet offers a top of the range service in equine medicine with first rate technology. With 20 vets at hand, the establishment numbers seven specialised units (lameness diagnosis, MRI scans, surgery, sports medicine, gynaecology, dentistry and nutrition) as well as a highly developed system for digital x-rays and endoscopies. The Clinique du Livet has a very strong reputation and has quickly established itself as the leading equine clinic in Normandy.
