Best race in Australia gets a feminine touch

On Tuesday the 3rd of November one of the biggest meetings of the international equestrian world stood in Australia, the Melbourne Cup (Gr1) « the race that stops the nation » with an allocation of $6,2 million. This 155th edition will stay in history, since, for the first time, the result is combined with a woman, Michelle Payne who lead to victory the outsider Prince of Penzance (100/1) trained by Darren Weir. The 30 year old athlete became « national celebrity » dedicating this achievement to all female jockeys.

The field was particularly tough his year with Max Dynamite, trained by Willie Mullins and ridden by Frankie Dettori, finished an excellent second, a bit ahead. The son of Great Journey, raised in France at Haras de Quetievielle had raked in a mention at Listed level before being aquired by Willie Mullins for 200.000 euro during the prestigeous ARQANA Arc Sale 2013.
