Enable made history in the Arc

08 October 2018

ParisLongchamp welcomed numerous spectators from around the world this Sunday 7 October 2018 for the first edition of the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (G1) since the doors of the mythical racecourse reopened. On the track, the hot favorites made the show for the world biggest race, led by the outstanding Enable. Third mare in history to achieve the exploit of a double, the daughter of Nathaniel not only won the Arc twice in a row, but on two different racecourses, Chantilly in 2017 and ParisLongchamp in 2018. « It's phenomenal to achieve this despite important setbacks in training, with a leg problem that kept her out all season and another setback only a few weeks ago. (…) She is outstanding », explained British master trainer John Gosden who scored three out of the last four editions of the race. « It's also the quintessence of horses and breeding. Enable comes from a family developed by Juddmonte Farms since four generations. It's incredible » The Prince Khalid Abdhullah's protégé also offered to the legendary Italian jockey Lanfranco Dettori a sixth wins in the world championship, a match never achieved before. « Speaking about emotions, it's the most beautiful of my success because the filly run her heart out and offered me everything » he said. After a memorable and breathtaking home straight, Sea of Class was only bitten by the smallest margin. The daughter of Sea The Stars finished glittering second with a short head to spare, while the two André Fabre-trainees, Cloth of Stars and Waldgeist, finished excellent third and fourth respectively.
« The Queen was harmed, the Queen was injured but the Queen stormed the Arc de Triomphe today » were the final words when she crossed the final line.
