Insight into the Prix du Jockey Club (Gr.1)

30 May 2014

Created in 1836, the Prix du Jockey Club is one of the major sporting events of the European season and the se- cond richest race of the year in France. It crowns the best three year old colt of the year following a race run over 2100 metres on Chantilly racecourse. An exceptional setting, a highflying race meeting and a day with masculine

elegance for theme makes this one of the unmissable events of the year.

Thanks to a power packed finish, Intello ran out the winner of last year's Prix du Jockey Club for Wertheimer & Frère (who both owned and bred him) and was crowned best three-year-old in France. This son of Galileo placed in the care of master trainer André Fabre thus won his ticket for the 2013 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, in which he finished third. Extremely well bred and having shown all his ability on the track Intello proved highly sought after by breeders – he is now standing at Cheveley Park Stud (England) for the 2014 and 2015 seasons and will then return to France to the Haras du Quesnay.
