Who was Triptych ?

A daughter of the champion race mare Trillion (second in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in 1978) and ancestor to the incredible Trêve (a dual winner of the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in 2013 and 2014). Triptych left her own unique stamp on the history of horseracing by being (to this day) the only thoroughbred in history to win a Group 1 at two, three, four, five and six years. This feat was achieved over fourty-one races run all over the world, nine victories at Group 1 level as well as 18 places, including two in very strong renewals of the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. As a result of the 1987 stock market crash, Triptych went through the ring as part of the exceptional dispersal of her owner Alan Clore's stock : three different sales were held simultaneously in March 1988 in Deauville, Ireland and the USA and were televised live on giant screen in order for potential buyers to bid. Triptych went through the ring in the USA and was bought for $3,4 million by French trainer Patrick Biancone on behalf of Peter Brandt.
